I just figured I’d give an update on my life. I guess. Since I’ve been kind of MIA Again. I’d love to say it’s because life has kept me busy. But actually, it’s just because life has kept me lazy. So anyway. Here’s what’s been going on .
This is, if you can’t tell, the drive shaft from my Jeep, which is that little spec up there in the middle of the picture. That weird, mangled mess at the top of the my drive shaft, is what used to be a universal joint, until it melted and consequently Flung my drive shaft out/off my vehicle while traveling 80 mph down the interstate. Yep. Luckily, despite my usual condition of existence, it landed somewhere in the median and NOT in the side of the gorgeous seventy-thousand dollar truck beside me. So, I pulled over. In keeping with my usual luck, however, I was a fourth my PAST the exit near my parents house, so I couldn’t just put it in 4-wheel and drive it as a front wheel drive, since I’d have to drive 15 miles or better, atleast 6 of which would Have to be in the interstate. Wasn’t worth getting run over. Well it’s okay, my dad has a truck and trailer, he can come get me. … Nope. They’re out of town. I’ll call my brother then, he can get the trailer and come.. .. Nope. In the woods hunting and his phone is off. So, I call the wrecker. He happens to be in the middle of lunch, so I get to wait and extra 30 minutes there as well. All because I wanted to go pick up a Christmas present that I’d just though of for someone.. While I’m wait.. OH, and.. before it broke my pinion yoke on it’s way out, it made sure to crush the brand new exhaust, I’d put on my jeep less than a month before.. So, while I waited on the wrecker I decided to go look for my drive shaft, assuming I just needed a new $15 U-joint, instead of having to buy a whole new $300 drive shaft. .. After Searching about 300 yards back down the interstate with traffic rocketing by, I finally find it over in the median. Good news is that it apparently somersaulted back down the interstate, successfully destroying both ends, so that it is now entirely useless and I get to replace it anyway.. Still better than in the side of the truck..
The reason I was even Driving my jeep down the interstate that particular day, is because few days before, due to an issue where my ABS randomly turned on/off on my car, my brakes locked, ripped the pad off the inside of my passenger from brakes and ate my rotor before I realized it. I check it, and it was fine.. Next time I checked, it wasn’t. I’d just replaced the brakes about a year ago.. So I didn’t think, hey my pad is probably gone and this check is completely lying to me.
So these are the fancy, shiny drilled/slotted rotors I put on her. Since I was Forced to have to spend money on one vehicle or the other RIGHT in the middle of trying to do Christmas shopping as well as pay for all my bills that decided to come in in the middle of December, including some old hospital/doctor bills that I didn’t even know existed. When it rains, it pours, right?
Also in those bills was a $116 power bill. Now that may not seem that ridiculous. But, I rented a house that’s like 300 sq.ft. for a reason.. and it wasn’t to have stupid high power bills.. It was the opposite. Also, I kept my heat between 55-60F so, even more why I considered it was ridiculous. I wash clothes about once every week and half (when I run out of clean work pants) and I never hardly turn the lights on. I don’t really cook or run much of anything else, so it was a little ridiculous in my book. So, I did what any reasonable person whose insanely hot natured anyway would do and turned it off completely. Now it’s usually about 35-40F in my house in the mornings, but that’s okay with me. I started checking around my house anyway, (I already knew it was FAR from efficient) and found several things that weren’t really surprising but were still very stupid. None of the doors/windows had any kind of weather stripping on them. You could see daylight around the old furnace vents to the basement, as well as around the front and back door. The Back door has a storm door on it, which had the glass taken out. so it rained into the area between the 2 doors. When the front door alone was open you could See wind blowing through my whole house. (By see wind I mean see it moving things.) Also, the front and back doors are both interior doors.. which neither seal like a exterior door should, nor offer the same insulation. There’s also no insulation in the walls as it a bajillion year old mill house. After countless hours, and several trips to Lowes (I prefer Home Depot but it’s 30 minutes away where as Lowes is 15.. yea.. I live in the middle of no where.. Actually I live in the middle of town.. Town just sits and the intersection of No and Where in the middle of BFE.) Anyway. It was all fairly pointless. Because the temperature in here still changes at the same exact rate as outside.
Speaking of Christmas shopping though, this is the line to check out at Academy Sports the weekend before Christmas. And this isn’t even the back. There were many more people behind me at this point.
Yea it took me a while to figure out what I was getting some people. Don’t judge me. Speaking of bad luck. I found the PERFECT shirt for my little brother. But, I found it in a small, and he’s bigger than I am. So, I looked online. The two stores than had his size in stock 30 minutes away one direct and an hour away the other direction. I had to have the shirt, and the store an hour away would be a Lot less traffic on a saturday, so I went that way. When I got there, I couldn’t find the shirt anyway. Looked and looked and looked. No where to be found. Check at the dressing rooms, at the front, with returns, every random shelf where I saw anything that color. So.. At this point I’m just determined. So, I decided I’ll go to the other store.. Which is now a million years away from where I am, but they don’t close til like 1 am during Christmas shopping season so, there I went.
Atleast traffic wasn’t bad or anything….
I got there. Same. Thing. Could not find it anywhere. I spent hours looking through literally everywhere in the store.. Never found it…. So.. yea.. That was that.
I did find this new Krispy Kreme like a minute away from where I was though. And got delicious hot sugary goodness to eat away all my pain and sorrow. The doughnuts were so fresh and soft that it was almost like eating cotton candy. Then I died.. because I ate way too much sugar.
So I guess that was the most interesting stories of the pre-Christmas season. Atleast the best ones I can think of at the moment anyway.. .. And calling those the best stories makes my life sound even more boring.. =/
Atleast traffic really wasn’t bad on the way home… I love the open road.
My mother’s 13ft tall tree..
And, unrelatedly this is what life with my “roommates” is like..
So, these are the two a-holes that live with me.. They love me. So much… I feel like this picture defines it pretty well..
This is my scarf. And it is one of my most favoritest gifts which I have ever received. I adore it, and I don’t care what anyone thinks. -.-
And this.. Is what I got for Christmas. A rustic cedar bed. And I love it. It’s beautiful. And it smells like cedar.
Even if it does take up the majority of my bedroom in my tiny little non-insulated house.
This is my warm winter blanket. You could really use it was a tent on Mt. Everest. It makes me hot even when it’s 35F in here. And I’m using F for degrees Fahrenheit because I’m too lazy to find, and don’t remember the keyboard command for the degree symbol and don’t like typing degrees. And for anyone Uppidy about my Confederate flag blanket. #1. The reason it’s a Confederate flag is because it was a gift from a cousin, and the majority of my family is redneck dynasty. And #2. If you are one of the misinformed many, the confederate flag represents the belief in state sovereignty with a limited federal government. (Which is still what I believe in, because I do not agree with the Feds. It’s impossible for a governing body so disconnected from the people and governing such a large, and diverse population to adequately make laws in the best interest of All of it’s people.) And, which is what the War of North Aggression was fought over (during which many of my direct ancestors died for the belief) and has nothing to do with racism. Thank you.
And, for anyone who was still unable to appreciate the beauty of my bed because of their preconceived notions of a symbol of my heritage on a blanket, this is what my bed looks like on a hot day. (Well that’s a lie too.. because I don’t actually make my bed.. this is what it looks like when I make it for the sole purpose of taking a picture of my bed.) .. Because even though It’s December the weather has absolutely No Idea what the hell it wants to do and ranges between 20-75f .. because that’s perfectly reasonable weather pattern for a two day span.
